displayedObjects takes your sort ordering and batching into
consideration to determine the order and quantity of objects to be
returned

Art and George, thanks for the tips. I dropped the debug into my
project and got this back:
<com.webobjects.jdbcadaptor.MySQLPlugIn$MySQLExpression: "SELECT
t0.PLANT_ID, t0.PLANT_NAME FROM PLANT t0">
No sort, just the select. As you can guess, I am using MySQL as the
database and have the 2.0.14 mysql adaptor.
That is a handy little debug trick. Thanks. And George, the
displayedObjects() binding did the trick. That is odd. I've always
use allObjects() and never paid any attention to displayedObjects().
In about two sentences, can you define the difference, other than one
supports a sort and one does not.
Anyway, thank you both. I am all jazzed up after WWDC. To every one
on the list, keep the great discussions going.

When I create the DisplayGroup, I check "fetches on load" and then
select sorting by the entity item in ascending order. I am not

trick to make it work, or do I need to use a fetch spec that defines
the sort order?
I don't know the answer for certain, but I doubt that you'd need to
set a sorting fetch spec in the display group's configuration. That
wouldn't make sense.
When any unexpected DB behavior occurs, I add the
"-EOAdaptorDebugEnabled true" launch flag to PB so I can check the
SQL being generated by EOF. Does the SQL for this fetch include a
SORT clause?
