Regardless of the *money* you pay for the software, nothing comes for free.
Personally, I'd rather pay money up front and get a solid, complete
database implementation rather than continuously pay down the road in
maintenance, admin, fixing data problems, working around DB limitations,
lack of support etc. It is certainly something to think about rather than
jumping at the first "free" solution that presents itself.
FrontBase also has a decent web based admin tool for those allergic to SSH
and a command line. ;-)
