I think we are probably in a beggars situation with the freebies.
However, when I synchronize, I get an error but the sync works OK. I
think the issue maybe that the sync is trying to recreate foreign key
constraints and MySQL 3.xx does not support foreign keys. MySQL 4.0
does but I don't want to deal with installing a new MySQL and worrying
about server upgrades blowing it all away. I'm kind-of hoping Apple
puts the 4.0 version in 10.3. :-)

Alert : No Reason Provided.
When I delete the tables in the DB, then run Generate SQL and re-create
them, then run synchronize schema, it generally works (sometimes there
are
messages, usually about the "drop constraint" -- which is confusing,
since I
don't really know a lick of SQL -- isn't EO/JDBC supposed to handle
this for
me?)
I guess I'm at a loss for information about *how* to solve this and
other
SQL related problems with the mySQL database.
First off, is there a way to debug the JDBC connector or EOModeler's
SQL
generation?
Is there a good resource for JDBC related problems (mailing list, faq,
etc)?
Is there a better free DB solution for WebObjects 5.2 than mySQL?
PostgreSQL? Or am I just in a beggars can't be choosers situation with
these free databases?
Setup details:
WO 5.2
mySQL 3.23.53
mysql-connector-java-2.0.14-bin.jar
thanks!
Jess
