Hi,
Were you having the problem when deploying under J2EE with SSL? We are
experiencing short timeouts with our web applications and clients using
Internet Explorer for Windows. It affects only clients whose machines
were recently updated. We haven't identified the combinations of I.E.
version, settings and operating system version that causes the clients
to timeout quickly. Netscape on the very same machines (or any other
client machine) does not suffer. Konqueror and Safari suffer from
immediate timeout upon login. This problem seems to have a different
manifestation. The onset of the I.E. timeout issue seems to be
associated with an automatic client update. More of our I.E. windows
clients are affected everyday. Others have not had this problem, but
once a client machine suffers the problem it always suffers from short
timeouts thereafter. We haven't figured out how to fix the problem.
We are deploying using J2EE (9iAS) and the problem seems to have
initiated when we changed to using SSL. We have not confirmed this so
it may just be a coincidence, but at least for Konqueror the problem was
directly associated with SSL. Presently we do not use session cookies
in either WebObjects or J2EE. We strictly store sessions in the URL.
