(J2EE != WebObjects)

So can I just download the J2EE code from java.sun.com and expect the j2ee.jar etc files to work right? - even though they are listed for Linux/Solaris/Windows, I'm just missing out on platform specific performance code, but can still use the java .jar libraries.

Assuming so, do I need to include the *.jar files individually in my CLASSPATH environment variable, or can I just include the directory that they are in. I'm trying to use the javax.servlet.http classes and keep getting the error "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/servlet/http/HttpServlet". I've been checking out the ADC site as well as a few Java books but cannot seem to figure out whether I actually have the right libraries or if its a problem of not setting up my environment correctly.
