Is Solaris 8 a viable platform for WO 5.2

I am looking at porting a web application developed in mod_perl and
mySQL to WO 5.2 and much as I would like to, I don't have the finances
to purchase a XServe and raid box at the moment so I've bought a
secondhand Sun 1u server and raid box (secondhand) and using WO on
Solaris - only to deploy, I will develop on OSX.
I'd appreciate people reassuring me that Solaris is a viable
alternative.
