Just to be clear:
1. Boot into OS X from the machine.
This is any bootable OS X partition installed on the machine.
2. Open up Disk Utitlity and select the partition with the OS
installed which you want to boot from.
This is the non-bootable OS X Partition on the external FW drive.
3. Do a Verify and Repair Disk Permissions
Once this is completed you should be able to boot from your external
firewire drive.
You will have to install the Developer tools after booting from the
external FW drive.

Hola!
I am in a PowerMac G3 (B&W) trying to install the dev-tools in an
external FireWire but:
1. I cannot boot from it (may be an OpenFirmware isue; i have 1.1f4),
so I installed OSX (10.2.3) from its .mpkg files.
2. When I try to install the Developer.mpkg, the installer does not
alow me to select such a device (it says that it most have installed
OSX... but it has; not yet configure, becouse of the bootable isue >> 1.)
So two questions comes to me:
1. Is 1.1f4 the latest open firmware for this machine?
2. If so, is there any way I can "fool" the installer to acomplish
the instalation??
May be one more:
Is this too vizarre?
Any help will be apreciated
