Hi!
We have upgraded from WO 5.2.1 / JDK 1.3.1 to WO 5.2.2 / JDK 1.4.1. In the new configuration we suffer from a severe performance degradation of our (only) JavaClient application. Scrolling is dead slow, redraws are slow, general responsiveness has gone down. The problems are most noticeable when the application is started using WebStart. They are however also present when the application is started as standalone.
I had already noted performance problems with JavaClient on Java 1.4.1 back with WO 5.2.1. At that time I had breifly tested this unsupported configuration to see if it would help with some Swing bugs. I dropped the idea of using that setup when I saw the performance it yielded.
Now that Java 1.4.1 is not only the recommended platform, but the only supported one, I had hoped for these problems to be ironed out.
Is anybody else seeing this performance drop? Any hints to where it stems from?
