I then switched to Apple's Getting Started with WebObjects tutorial.
I got
through the first part ok (the guest book) but got stuck on the Movie
app
because you have to set it up with the Application Wizard which
doesn't seem
to exist in Xcode.
This seems to be your problem, try:
EnterpriseObjectsApp/index.html>
It's newer and although designed for Project Builder you should be able
to make the transition to Xcode fairly easily.
Also get the latest version of Openbase if you are running Panther:
<http://www.openbase.com/beta/OpenBase8.0_MacOSX.dmg>
You may need to register for a new free "Innovator" license to get it
to work with WebO.
As far as learning WebO, I started with the Apple Tutorial like the one
mentioned above, and then moved to "WebObjects Application Construction
Kit" by George Ruzek (no longer in print) and learned a lot from
"Professional WebObjects 5.0 with Java" by Termini etal. I own all of
the WebO books and have skimmed them all but use none of them very
much. I get a lot more from the API references and from examining
source code (Project Wonder is a great place to start). And of course
this and other list archives are invaluable.
My real learning started when I signed my first client contract and had
to deliver something : )
