But Swing is installed with the JVM nowadays, if you use SWT then you
will have to download a large jar file with the client code when using
Java Web Start.
You're right. But, you talk about java client? If you read the
documentation, you see that that Java client is for intranet. It's not
to replace the web UI (use Flash for that).
But, on mac, do you want to download Cocoa applications? With ADSL and
LAN, the download isn't a problem. And all the SWT framework, for mac
or windows, is contained in 1,2 Mo. To many? And, with Web Start, it's
only for the first start up! After, you have a real AQUA UI!! Not
Swing.

Hi (2),
If you don't know Eclipse (http://www.eclipse.org), visit their web
site. It's a very nice alternative to XCode. XCode isn't a nice
solution for WO. But, it isn't the subject of this email.
In Java client, Apple uses Swing, the worst java solution for me.
SWT, the UI framework of Eclipse, is a good cross-platform solution.
For example, with Swing, an open panel is the same in all platforms.
But wouldn't you like rather to use the Cocoa open panel in MacOS and
the XP panel in Windows?
I want to tell to Apple that SWT is a better solution for java
client, that Eclipse is better than XCode for WO. It would be nice if
I won't be alone to say that.
