When I build and get

somewhere to get the errors to appear here ?

Build errors and warnings seem to appear only in the Build window (Build > Show Detailed Build Results or Shift-Apple-B). Under the Building Preferences is an "Open Build Windows during builds". When set to "On Errors" or "On Errors or Warnings", the Buld window doesn't open when a build error or warning occurs in my experience. So I set this preference to "Always".
