I thank everyone for their input, but I'm still not sure about it
being dead. How much has webobjects changed in the last year, other
than to fix bugs and catch up with the rest of the market? Sure WO
has expanded to handle the 'current' technologies, but WO's seems to
be a step behind. If I'm wrong, please tell me so, but tell me how
I'm wrong.
I think is the other way arround: it is allways one step further...
Just to mention a few:
* from 4 to 5; Pure Java, which guaranty a longer life of your code and
alow you to use third-party objects/tools. Objective-C remains there
via the Java-Bridge.
* from 5.0 to 5.1; Direct to Java, which alow you to develope a pure
java client app almost without writing code. It also started to support
J2EE techs like EJB, JTA/JTS and RMI-IIOP.
* from 5.1 to 5.2 (a major release not reflected in the version
number); Web Services, which alow you to use standards like XML, SOAP,
WSDL. It also (officially) supports third party servers like WebLogic
and WebSphere.
* from 5.2.1 to 5.2.2; XCode... we will see ;^?
IMHO, since NeXT, it is *THE* OO-Development System in the market.

Is this a dieing technology? Is it being replaced?
Not at all. I think that most of all are installing the just-released
version (5.2.2) to test it on Panther...
And good news: the Apple WOTeam still works on Cocoa/EOF... (well, at
least they corrected some bug in this last version. Thanks!!!!)
