David Thorp kindly asked a good question about how to use Cocoa to build a
WebObjects application withouth a browser. I have a question with respect to
using a browser but without using any of the WOElements from WebObjects
Builder. No offense to WebObjects Builder, as its a very helpful app, but
for those wanting to use basic HTML forms and WebServices (SOAP), the
WOElements in HTML templates are optional.
Regarding the mainstream browser that best supports SOAP, it is Mozilla.
Specifically the current stable version of Mozilla is Mozilla 1.4 and
Mozilla 1.0 has long since been surprassed.
The Apple Developer site (http://developer.apple.com/internet/webservices/ )
has a section on using the Mozilla SOAP API with WebObjects WebServices:
http://developer.apple.com/internet/webservices/mozillasoapapi.html
This section on using the SOAP API that Apple has authored and posted is
specific to Mozilla 1.0 but does not work (it breaks completely) in Mozilla
1.4. Apparently there does not seem to be a way to make use of the new WSDL
proxy capability thats built into the new SOAP API in Mozilla 1.4 with
WebObjects (the new SOAP API and WSDL proxying, which also includes a new
security model proposed by Netscape to the W3C for cross-domain Javascript
issues (
http://lxr.mozilla.org/mozilla/source/extensions/webservices/docs/New_Security_Model.html
) ). Maybe Apple documentors might want to consider posting an updated
version of this Mozilla API section and suggest a way to use WebObjects with
the new WSDL proxying and new security model that Netscape has proposed?
