Wow! thanks for the link. EOGenerator is certainly aimed at the issue I raised and it makes a good job of explaining the problem.


Unfortunately it looks overwhelming for me. It seems to require more effort to set up than my current work around, and I'm put off by mention of the need to compile the supplied code. Too daunting for me at this stage. If I was running a team of developers then it would be worth implementing EOGenerator, but with just me I can just continue being careful with FileMerge.
