I assume Apple wrote their own parser to use with the ical application
on the .mac site. There is some stuff for webobjects in project wonder
that will allow you to publish a calendar that can be read with an iCal
application. I have not seen anything specific for webobjects that
reads an iCal file and displays a nice graphical calendar page. There
is some stuff for php that does this. The format of the data iCal uses
is standard rfc2445 calendar data http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2445.txt .
It would be fairly easy to write a java parser that would parse simple
non-repeating events. I was looking for a parser some time ago, for a
project I was working on, and didn't find anything that implements the
full rfc2445 spec for java. The Apache Jakarta project was working on
something that would provide a java api to icalendar data, but I am not
sure what the status of this project is. There is a project on
sourceforge http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=60974
that is for creating a busy free time listing from ical files. It has a
very incomplete parsing class but the layout is there to create a more
complete parsing class. If anyone knows of anything that is a more
complete parsing api for ical data in java please post it to the list.
