If all but one instance are functioning correctly, the suspicion would
be on the JavaMonitor configuration for that one instance. Check it
carefully (beware of Computer Blindness! :-). Perhaps the JVM memory
size is set at 28MB instead of 128MB or something like that.
Is there anything else in the app log file that looks out of the ordinary?

Hi all,
Strange problems since I updated to 5.2.1:
The instance 9 is dead and not responding at all 8 hours after
restarting. In /tmp/WebObjects.log I can read if I try to connect:
Info: Sending request to instance number 9, port 2009
Info: Trying to contact ILL:9 on (2009)
Info: attempting to connect to xx.rero.ch on port 2009
Info: ILL:9 on (2009) connected [pooled: No]
Info: Request GET /cgi-bin/WebObjects/ILL.woa/9 HTTP/1.1
sent, awaiting response
Info: Reading configuration from
http://localhost:1085/WebObjects/wotaskd.woa/wa/woconfig
Info: attempting to connect to localhost on port 1085
Info: Preparing to read config for host: localhost
Info: New response: HTTP/1.0 200 Apple WebObjects
.... 45 sec after
Debug: nonBlockingRecv(): timed out (45 sec)
Info: Marking instance 9 dead
Warn: Marking shiva.rero.ch:9 unresponsive
Debug: connectionAttempts = 1, retries = 1
and I got an error message in Safari.
and due to this problem the instance cannot be restarted automatically
by the wotaskd.woa as every day, in the instance log file I found:
Nov 17 06:00:11 XXX[4785] !!! Request will be REDIRECTED to non-refusing
instance </cgi-bin/WebObjects/XXX.woa>
Nov 17 06:00:33 XXX[4785] !!! _initializeSessionInContext: called with
refuseNewSessions set !!!
The only way to restart it is to kill -9 or to use the Force Quit This
Instance button in JavaMonitor.
The instance 11, working instance, I got that:
Info: Sending request to instance number 11, port 2011
Info: Trying to contact ILL:11 on (2011)
Info: attempting to connect to xx.rero.ch on port 2011
Info: ILL:11 on (2011) connected [pooled: No]
Info: Request GET /cgi-bin/WebObjects/ILL.woa/11 HTTP/1.1
sent, awaiting response
Info: Reading configuration from
http://localhost:1085/WebObjects/wotaskd.woa/wa/woconfig
Info: attempting to connect to localhost on port 1085
Info: Preparing to read config for host: localhost
Info: New response: HTTP/1.0 200 Apple WebObjects
Info: New response: HTTP/1.1 200 Apple WebObjects
Info: received ->200 Apple
and I got the page in Safari.
The server is WO 5.2.1 under OS X Server 10.2.6 running Apache with WO
Adaptor as a module not CGI.
Any idea why the instance is not responding? I don't know what is
happening and I have nothing in my instance log file, no Java exception.
This problem seems to be related to WO 5.2.1 update and DirectAction but
I'm not really sure about it... before updating, the application used to
run like a charm with WO 5.2 and OSXS 10.2.4!
Thank you in advance for any comments ans suggestions,
Daniel Muller
