My advice would be to get comfortable with Java before attempting WO.
Otherwise you are just going to get frustrated and blame the tools.  WO is
a tool for professional programmers and has a very, very steep learning
curve.  Think the face of a cliff.  It is best appreciated with a
background in Java, SQL, and HTTP/web applications.

You can learn Java on your own.  I'll recommend the Java Ranch website and
Thinking in Java by Bruce Eckel.  You can get a free electronic copy of the
latter if you can tolerate reading a large book like this.  Personally, I
can't.
