adding eomodel to existing project

while this may seem like a rather elementary question, but with is the
proper way to add an eomodel to an existing project?
i first tried [Project > Add File] but it didn't like that
i then figured out i must use [Project > Add Framework]. that works,
but it won't allow me to copy it into my project directory. nor can I
simply save it to my project directory b/c the "Add framework" dialog
won't navigate to the prject directory (why is that?)
