Sounds like this file may not have been included in the Application
Server target. You can set the target of a project file. See Xcode
Help for details.

go into detailed view to even be told to look in the build log with no
other info), and
2. Where would the build log be by default?
The Detailed Build Results window has three panes, but not all of them
may be visible. Notice the dimples centered in the horizontal pane
dividers. Click and drag these to open and resize the panes. The top
pane shows build summary info. The middle pane (usually not open)
shows the build log. The bottom pane shows an editor.
It's worth taking the time to read the entire Xcode Help information.
This will save time in the long run since you won't be struggling with
things that are documented in Xcode Help.
