Hi,
I had WO 5.2.1 on 10.2.8 with Java 1.4.1 and then on 10.3.2 (alsp
1.4.1) and was hit by the too many open files problem (10.2.x with Java
1.3.1 was o.k.).
So I tried Java 1.4.2 under 10.3.2 today and until now everything seems
o.k. and fixed - so the Java folks a Apple have done a good job ;-)

Kieran,
WebObjects 5.2.2 has not been officially qualified with Java 1.4.2.
Java 1.4.2 has a different XML parser than 1.4.1 and could cause
problems serializing/deserializing WO classes. Other than that, there
aren't any known potential issues. Please file bugs if you encounter
any problems.

I suppose, based on history, it would be dangerous for WebObjects to
just hit install for the Java 1.4.2 update that has been presented in
the Software Update app??
