I am in need of a way to dynamically generate a JPG image from info stored
in a database. Basically I just need to be able to place text on an
existing background image, but it's going to be more involved than just
adding a watermark. I'll need to be able to place it in a table format
with different fonts and sizes, etc.
Some of the possibilities I've found so far are:
Quicktime for Java
JAI
ImageMagick (with JMagick <http://www.yeo.id.au/jmagick/>)
Batik <http://xml.apache.org/batik> (creating an SVG, then saving it as a
JPG)
The key is that the output needs to look good (antialiased, proper
wrapping, etc). It would be nice to create some kind of template also.
So has anyone out there done something like this? Are there other
alternatives that might give a higher level approach to this without
costing a fortune? (Yes I know of ReportMill, but it's too damn
expensive.)
Thanks guys.
./steve
