I just though:
1-Get Pacifist (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12743)
2-Get the Installer of Java 1.4.2
3-Open 1.4.2 with Pacifist
4-Look at what files are changing (there are plenty of them...)
5-Check the permission of these files on your system (to make sure
you'll be able to set them back)
6-Get these files from another computer (with Java 1.4.1 of course;))
7-Plug-in your computer in Target mode (to make sure nothing will acces
the files while changing them)
8-change the files by the old ones
9-Remove the Java1.4.2.pkg (or something like that) in
/Library/Receipt, so it will show up again in Software Update
10-Restart
Should work :)

I have a client who mistakenly upgraded 10.3 Server to Java 1.4.2. As
we
all know, this breaks WO deployment (JavaMonitor fails to start
instances
after the upgrade).
I know the "official" way to get back to 1.4.1 is to reinstall OSXS and
software-update all the way, just short of 1.4.2 itself.
This is painful. Does anyone know of a way to downgrade without
reinstalling the OS?
