The main benefit of using ERExtension's version of validation handling over Validity comes when you use D2W/ERD2W - because then the actually displayed values for the property keys will get used. Ie, when your attribute is dateBorn, but you have "Birthday" oder "Geburtstag" displayed on your page, then this will also be used in the error messages.
