What you have below is a Direct Action URL. It is a simple, stateless
request for a "static" resource. It makes perfect sense to use
mod_rewrite to make those URLs friendly. But to try and make component
action URLs like that seems like a much less useful idea.

Although I agree with you for the most part, I can tell you that most
of our clients are very picky about URLs. One *insisted* that his
URLs look like /articles/123 instead of /articles?article_id=123, even
after I explained that I was not sure how well this would scale in the
long run. So although it may not *really* matter, it does matter as
far as our ability to get WO development contracts is concerned.
