I assume that, by now, some of you are wondering, "How could this guy,
Ryan, be so vocal about things like the WhyWebObjects.Com site but then
ask newbie questions regarding EOModels and the alike?" Well, I would
like to answer that so that Chuck, Art, Dov, and the other WOVets are
not so confused... nothing important, just want to get it off of my
chest.
I am a hard-core M$ developer and have been since the 80's. I have,
however, always been interested in cross-platform technologies. Early
last year, while attending a rather closed-door meeting, I learned of
two fellow developers who were fired because of releasing a patch for
IIS to a rather significant corporate-level client. It was at that
time when I outfitted myself and my partner with PowerBooks and
WebObjects and began porting our code from .NET to Java and WebObjects.
Unfortunately, .NET has continued to pay the bills and, sad to say, I
have only been able to toy with WebObjects off and on. So, while I
love the platform, I am still a "WONewbie."
On that note, I wanted to say thanks to everyone who has been patient
and supportive every step of the way. It is not very common for a new
guy to enter the circle and be accepted so warmly as you have done with
me (which is probably why I'm not a UNIX/Java developer at this point).
Granted, I now understand this to simply be more of "the Mac way," but
I still appreciate it a great deal. It is very comforting to see a
reply come in from Chuck, Art, and the other pros out there, or to get
feedback from others who appreciate WebObjects and Macs for what they
are.
So, that's me, for what it's worth. And, thanks, again, to all of you.
R/S
Ryan
