New WO Class announcement

Announcing a new course called "WebObjects for the Rest of Us":

Expand your WebObjects skills with a week-long intensive class led by Joshua Marker, author of "Visual Quickpro Guide:WebObjects for Mac OS X" and the Apple WebObjects documentation.

It has been observed that it's relatively easy to learn how to use WO to put a widget on the page, but not so easy to learn how to really use it's power to make your programming life more productive. The documentation covers the technical minutiae well, but lacks the big picture stuff - how to design an app to take best advantage of WO's strengths, implement that design, and deploy your finished app. These "WO Way" issues are what really make the difference.

In class we will design a project as a group, and split into teams to implement sections of the application. Twice-daily code reviews and occasional switching to different teams means everyone will participate in each phase and part of application design and implementation - and it's a great experience in enforcing real-world techniques for encapsulation, one of the chief benefits of the WO approach.

Class will be held in summer cottages near the ocean, just north of San Francisco, CA. This location will provide a backdrop of spectacular views, coastal drives, and redwood hottubs - nice after a long day's work.

Because the goal of this class is to jump right in at an intermediate level, you need to have at least minimal WO skills before attending. Having worked through the Web Applications book Apple provides would be a good idea.

Details such as cost and exact dates are still being worked out, but the goal is to make the class affordable for those who don't have a corporate training budget to pay for it. And by providing lodging we'll be sparing you the hassle and expense of getting your own hotel room.

If you are interested and would like to be put on a mailing list to receive more information as it becomes available, please e-mail email@hidden.

furfly.net, LLC (http://www.furfly.net) is assisting with the design, logistics and promotion of this class.
