Subject: Non-European Scripts?
I'm currently evaluating WebObjects for use in an application that will
require the use of multiple scripts beyond the latin script used for
Western European languages. Does anybody have any experience in using
WO for this? I've built the first direct to Java sample from the Java
Client Desktop Application docs (the student gpa sample) and I've
already encountered problems with such simple scripts as Japanese.
I've entered a simple set of kana and on conversion to kanji I'm
getting junk characters (moji-bake). Trying to enter Hindi or Arabic
is even worse.
I'm running the tryout version of WO 5.2.3 on a Mac. The database is
OpenBase and it is set to UTF-8. I would hope that WO can support
these scripts but I guess that there's some hidden switch to build it
to do so. Can anybody help? Any advice in general on non-European
scripts and WO?
Thanks,
Stuart
