Your admin can simply include a small script that will mount the folder
on startup. Simply do mount -t smbfs -o username=user, password=xxx //ip
address/folder name. You can also execute that command when the process
starts and unmount in the end.
Hope that helps,
Marios

I've already posted the message to the OS X Server's mailing list.
Hopefully I will have some help there. But my original purpose for the post
is to see whether I can mount a remote server/folder programmatically and
unmounted when the process ends. By doing so, our admin don't need to mount
the remote server every time the xserve reboots.
There is a open source client library that implements the CIFS/SMB
networking protocol in Java at http://jcifs.samba.org/, but in order to use
the package, I have to re-write most of my programs.:( If someone has
better suggestion or know other packages out there, please let me know.
Thank you all for your response.

It's been over 3 years since I last used Samba. More recent
Samba
versions are much more capable and have many more configuration options
that I'm not familiar with. I would hope that OS X Server's server
administration app would be able to configure Samba without manual
updating of Samba's config file. But I'm not familiar with OS X
Server. Sorry.
Aloha,
Art
