DTJC runs a client DB

I'm beginning to think I can't do what I would like, which is to have a DTJC app use a local DB instead of a server DB.

For one, I can't seem to start <hsqldb> in WebServer mode. Even if I can configure such a startup, it probably would not be something that a third-party application downloaded thru Java Web Start could do.

And here comes my real question, is it not true that the EO package talks to the DB only through HTTP, and thus necessitates the DB to be in WebServer mode?
