A bit off topic... Java version of NSData

I am making a helper application for my woapp that communicates with
another server via rmi to transfer files back and forth, based on the
actions in the woapp. For the life of me I cannot seem to find an
equivalent version of NSData in the core java libraries. I cannot use
NSData as on the remote server, it is running just vanilla java on
win2k so I need something just to wrap the file contents up and pass it
via rmi.
Does anyone know of an equivalence class.
