I don't really know what to say. It works. Its solid. Its easy to
understand. The last, I think, is the Big Deal. The visual
presentation is intuitive. Dragging and dropping, renaming, etc just
do the right thing. It is very easy to see where you are, to see the
history. You feel in control. With CVS is usually feel slightly
nervous and a little unsure of what is going to happen next. I've also
used MKS Source Integrity and Source Safe. I'm much more confident in
StarTeam. Oh, and you can't really delete anything. You can make it
disappear from the view, but roll back time until before the deletion
and it is back again. It has a robust set of user perms so you can
prevent the dangerous folks ;-) in your office from moving things
around or deleting them. It also has command line and web access.
Neither are great but are functional. The worst thing about it is that
the OSX client is a Java App. Not as slick as the Windows one but
still easy to use. I guess what I like best is that it stays out of
the way, gets the job done with a minimum of fuss and thinking, and
doesn't mess up my work.
However - It is not free, not even close. I think the minimum price is
around $5000. Probably not an option for a two person shop, but for a
larger place it will pay for itself in productivity increases.

StarTeam from Borland. Ever, ever, ever so much better than CVS.

What are people out there using for version control (e.g. MS Visual

And is there a Mac based version control application? Not unix/linux.
