Did you turn on SQL debugging? There are many posts on this list about how to do that. If it's only one query to the database that fails you should post the SQL that is generated, and a complete stack trace as suggested by Chuck would be good.

Hi Dirk,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the database connection works from EOModeler and I can retriev the data via EOModeler. The project includes the JavaJDBCAdaptor.framework. I installed the MS SQL Server 2000 adaptor. The database is running and I supplied the correct username/password for the database.

Below is the info requested:

Database - MS SQL Server 2000
WO Version - 5.2
OS - Windows 2000
Plugin/Adaptor Version for Database: MS SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC

The application that I am developing is a Direct to Web application.

Thanks,
Thusitha

Hi Thusitha, Here some questions for finding the solution to your exception:

Does the database connection work from EOModeler? Did you include the
JavaJDBCAdaptor.framework? Did you install the right adaptor for your
database? Is the database running? Did you supply the correct
username/password for the database?

For further help on the list please include the following information:
Database + version, WO version, OS, Plugin/Adaptor version for
database, and anything special about your environment

Cheers,
Dirk

Does anybody know what is causing this error? What needs to be done
to fix this problem?
java.lang.IllegalStateException: _obtainOpenChannel --

com.webobjects.eoaccess.EODatabaseContext@171f189: failed to open

Thanks.
