Xcode UI question

  • Subject: Xcode UI question

After reinstalling everything on my machine, I've lost some desired
Xcode functionality and I'm not sure how.... I generally use Xcode's
embedded editor when working on a project. Occasionally, I'll then
need to open some other file that is unrelated to current project.
What USED to happen is that this outside file (which is opened via
Finder, not File->Open) would open in a new Xcode editor window. What
happens NOW is that it always opens in the embedded editor which I
don't want. I can't seem to find any kind of preference that would
effect this... anyone have some insight? Thanks.
