I agree with others that it is important for Apple to add Java 1.5
support in a more timely manner. By timely I mean no later than a month
after the official release. Besides WebObjects I also use my Mac for
Java development in a larger team of developers who use Windows and
Linux. I am the sole Mac user and it has taken much to convince the
group to purchase me a Mac. Everyone has moved to Java 1.5 and so I
must use a Linux box to do my development since Apple doesn't support
Java 1.5 on Panther at this time. I strongly believe that Apple has the
best development tools and platform in general, yet it is not good for
Apple to lag so far behind in their Java releases. Timely Java releases
is presently the single most critical deficit of the Mac platform in my
opinion and should be given a higher priority. -tom
