The only test for speed that I know of is to check the transaction time
reported in the GUI of JavaMonitor - it says less than 1/2 second which
seems fine to me.

I struggled for a couple days getting to understand the perfect way to
install the stinking driver (I'm very new to UNIX). Tell me if you get
stuck on this.

The first test I did was to use EOModeler to connect/view data in the SQL
dbase. This too has tripped me up.

Tell me where you get stuck and I'll tell you what I know about it :)
