10.3 deployment and permissions

Hi,
In 10.3 deployment, webobjects permissions have been changed from root ownership to appserver. I'm using FOP to generate PDFs and get this error
kCGErrorRangeCheck : Window Server communications from outside of session allowed for root and console user only
java.lang.InternalError: Can't connect to window server - not enough permissions.
if I change /System/Library/WebObjects/JavaApplications/wotaskd.woa back to root ownership everything works again, but does anyone know of a better workaround?
