IE 6 SP2 problem

Hi all,

I hope this will prevent others from wasting time.

Problem:
After an XP SP2 install, the "Internet Options..." "Security" and "Privacy" settings are in a "weird" state. This state can result in cookies being blocked arbitrarily. It appears that there is no notification to the user when this occurs. These settings are sometimes (often?) set correctly after a SP2 install, this problem is to be inconsistent. The problem is also discussed here:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx? kbid=870700&product=windowsxpsp2

Symptoms:
Session based pages cannot be accessed, cookies not being returned to a WO site.

Remedy:
Set the "Privacy" settings to default and apply. Setting custom settings afterwards appears to provide user notifications when blocking takes place. I also set the "Security" settings to default while trying to resolve the problem so not sure if this is also required.
Other sites suggest adding your site to the list of trusted sites which also works (but only for the domain in question of course).
