I tried this but diplayGroup.insert returns a null value (the documentation
says this is to force a page reload).

However, it works using:
displayGroup.setInsertedObjectDefaultValues(defaultDictionary)

I send this method in the component constructor and it sets the values! A
step forward!

The behaviour of the first insert appears a little odd!  The
EOEnterpriseObject gets created and inserted in the DisplayGroup and is then
displayed;  thereafter it can be edited.
