Yes, WOBuilder 5.2 is the new version that ships with WO 5.3.
I'm also using it and haven't found it to crash any more, or less,
than the older WOBuilder.
I've filed one bug against it, that of it losing the ability to edit
graphics after they're placed and one enhancement, to bring back the
palette of WO elements.
One of the things I like most about WO 5.3 is that it allows you to
Build and Run even though you already have an instance running, it's
amazing how the elimination of a step in the debug process can go
such a long way.
I use the external EOModeler.

Possibly related: I'm seeing this @#$% problem where, when I try to
save a
file then quit (WOBuilder), it erases the original. Uh... "this
slows WO
development, somewhat" ;)
