Gtk+ with EOF

  • Subject: Gtk+ with EOF

Hi all.

A networking friend is suggesting developing an intranet cross platform applet system using Gtk+ as a windowing toolkit, because we want to avoid AWT. As far as we can see it now, EOF would still be in the game for persistence.

Besides following a few hyperlinks, I have NO knowledge of Gtk+. If anybody can address any of the following, please do:

1. Is it possible?
2. Effort / gain ratio?
3. Quality of the Java interface to Gtk+ (Java-Gnome I believe)?
4. Is it possible for a non experienced programer to pull off?
5. We are talking about a two person job here; does that imply things?
6. Comments on Gtk+ in general?
7. Is developer sanity becoming a question here?

Hope it makes at least some sense :)
TIA,
Flor
