WO development philosophy

Hi folks,

I have been slowly learning WO and java, although I am not a developer by any stretch of the imagination. I have also been researching a number of other development approaches. I like a lot of aspects of WO but am not sure if it can solve all my problems. I am looking to develop a collaborative knowledge management application that has the following components:

1) it is web based and public
2) it has an e-commerce component
3) it has membership authentication and tracking of editing and revisions
4) it integrates with a database that can accept uploads of rich media as well as text

(So far, so good. From my limited knowledge I can see that WO can handle most of this.)

And now the other stuff ...

5) Integration with a wiki, such as Twiki. Is it possible to seamlessly blend this collaborative app with WebObjects? Transactions could also take place.
6) I assume that if that were possible, the site could also include a blog?
7) I would like to make this a hybrid architecture that includes peer to peer, and have read with interest about JXTA. Has anyone had experience trying to mix WO with a distributed database?

I expect this all sounds nuts, but essentially I like the scalability of WebObjects but I like the collaborative nature of open source wikis. JXTA appeals because it will spread the load and p2p is politically flat.

Any comments from the list would be very appreciated.

Cheers
Pete
