I suspect that WO 5.3.1 is a significant improvement over 5.3. As
long as you're learning basic things, I doubt that 5.3.1 bugs
would be a significant problem.
I asked about this a few weeks ago and about 50% of the respondents
said that they thought 5.3.1 was still too buggy,
There's bugs in any version. WO5.3.1 is good enough. You get used to
the quirks after a while.
