Hi Richard,

I know virtually nothing about Cloudscape, but your suggestion does certainly seem like an appealing option for certain kinds of applications. Are you thinking of writing an EOF adaptor plugin for this?

Do any of the mavens who subscribe to this list have an opinion about the utility of using Derby né Cloudscape as a WebObjects database (assuming a plugin was written).

When the source is released, one could make a framework and incorporate Derby as an embedded database in a WebObjects application. This would permit debugging with a java debugger on both sides of the EnterpriseObjects frameworks.

Also, one could distribute applications as one package without worrying about providing for database connectivity. If one deployed as a war, you could plunk the app into JBoss or even Tomcat with minimal deployment descriptors.

Does this sound attractive? Not worth the trouble?
