Unfortunately this explanation won't be of much general help...

When Mike and I set up the steps necessary to enable SSI we did it on a MacOSX client machine.

In moving the changes to the server one of the lines changed in <httpd.conf> was

	Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
to
	Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews Includes

this was done in 2 places, one of the places, line 506 in my file, was originally commented out, when undoing the change I neglected to re-comment the line.

We will review a better method for enabling SSI, taking into account on MacOSX Server the rather specific relationship between <httpd.conf> and <httpd_macosxserver.conf>
