hiya,
this is correct, you can do that.
but DONT think this is a fun or a kids game, you must suffer a little.
myself I suggest you suffer and do it better than give up and back to mac.
however, see this http://www.tetlabors.de/wo/setup_webobjects_on_linux.html
also try http://www.google.com/search?q=install+webobjects+linux&sourceid=opera&num=100&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

to run old WO applications, you need the solaries part in the .woa directory(what usually always included)

Subject: WO on Linux Definitive Guide?

I've seen a couple people mention successful installs of WO on Linux. Right now, I'm between Apple servers (just sold my G4, XServe coming in a few weeks). In the meantime, I'd like to run WO on the Mandrake Linux server sitting here. Right now, I temporarily have it running on an old laptop with OSXServer. It's been mentioned that a WO install can just be copied over to a Linux box. Does anyone have a definitive document on this?

I can guess the basics...

* Copy of the cgi WebObjects stuff from the apache directory
* Copy the /Library/WebObjects directory
* set monitor to start on boot

What else? Any caveats?

thanks,
