As a newbie into WO, (few months) I fully agree with Chuck comments,
and I understand MF..
I succeeded in running the applet by creating a simple test app, then
calling my app with 'static bindings'
as I knew this applet was running very well in pure HTML
then I switch into Dynamic mode very easily...
Starting dev with WO, my initial problems came from using XCode and
being too confident into the pre-defined scripts
and using Direct Connect...
things became easier when Chuck told me to launch my tests with the
argument : 'WODirectConnectEnabled=false'
I believe that moving out XCode will force me to understand where
things are actually placed... (I have to write them... !)
but I was so hungry to start with WO that I jumped into the XCode
wagon... and I see , not the limits, but the traps ..
Newbie life si a back and forth between high-low level info.... poor
life !

NOte : I'll send my WOApplet test to MF, but it's half of the problem
as I don't need parameters back from the Applet.....

Now we pop into WOBuilder, slap a WOApplet on the page, and start
setting the bindings so they mimic those in our static HTML file we
made in the text editor. Save, build, and run. Done. No fuss, no
muss, no confusion because we knew what we were doing. Doesn't work?
OK, look at what WO output, compare it to your hand created file. What
is different? Which binding is that from? See what is wrong? No? Try
the docs? Still no luck? OK, ask a question on the list.
I saw in a recent post that you hate direct connect -- aside from the
problem that it messes with WOApplets, is there a reason one should
avoid this seemingly very-useful development tool?
It is not a tool. It is a crutch. It is not a web server it is just a
little like a web server. If you need real web server features, you
are out of luck.
