I dunno. You download the installer from FrontBase, run it and you're done. The readme tells you what needs to go in the connection dictionary in EOModeler. Compare that to many confused pleas for help with PostgreSQL that appear every few weeks. FrontBase sure looks easier to me, at least for the WO novice.

I take exception to this statement. PostgreSQL seems no easier/harder than any other database IME. The problem stems from making sure you have the proper plug-ins (both of them) OR in making sure you have the <TABLE_NAME>_SEQ sequence as required by WO.

The two plug-ins I refer to are the EOmodeler one and the runtime one. I do not believe they are required, they just make things run smoother. They are available from Project Wonder.

Conversely, you can just create the <TABLE_NAME>_SEQ sequence and be done with it as pgSQL is about as ANSI compliant as is possible.

It's not pgSQL's fault that Apple bundles other products' plug-ins or uses Oracle-specific syntax in their own plug-ins (inner joins, anyone?).

That being said, I'd love to see a comparative writeup of pgSQL, OpenBase, FrontBase, MS SQL Server, MySQL and Oracle from the WO POV. Anything like that out there?
