Databases for WebObjects

Dear List,

We are very content with Sybase SQL Anywhere Studio (not ASE). This self-tuning database works perfectly with WebObjects and has never let us down since its inception in early 2004 (Mac). We use it for our large 1TRACKER EXT multi-customer database. Also, our clients are very happy with it and all its graphical administration tools. The price point is very reasonable and competitive. A couple of hundred dollars per connection. Performance is very fast as well. Runs on Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux.

Please contact me if any of you needs further assistance with this product.

RCMDEV, as an authorized Sybase/Apple reseller, has several drivers and launch scripts for WebObjects/Mac OS X to optimize this database's performance.

Yours sincerely,

That being said, I'd love to see a comparative writeup of pgSQL, OpenBase, FrontBase, MS SQL Server, MySQL and Oracle from the WO POV.

In a nutshell:

- PostgreSQL, beside being a pain to install, is a pain to use (oh why, oh why, oh why are identifiers case insensitive by default?!?!?)
- MySQL? Ever heard of binary keys? Apparently not [1].
- FrontBase? Does that still exists? :o)
- Sybase and Oracle. Solid. Just Work (SM). Need a stelar team of DBAs to keep them running smoothly.

Anything like that out there?

Why don't you write one?

Cheers
