Cloudscape/Derby and WebObjects

Do any of the mavens who subscribe to this list have an opinion about the utility of using Derby né Cloudscape as a WebObjects database (assuming a plugin was written).

When the source is released, one could make a framework and incorporate Derby as an embedded database in a WebObjects application. This would permit debugging with a java debugger on both sides of the EnterpriseObjects frameworks.

Also, one could distribute applications as one package without worrying about providing for database connectivity. If one deployed as a war, you could plunk the app into JBoss or even Tomcat with minimal deployment descriptors.

Does this sound attractive? Not worth the trouble?
