I've used the Spring framework for 2 years now. If I never used
WebObjects nor EOF I'd probably be singing it's praises as well as it's
got more integrated support for ORM tools than Struts. Basically, you
can think of Spring as a superset to Struts in that it not only provides
a MVC framework for organizing your classes but gives you pretty slick
integration with JDO, Hibernate or EJBs. You choose. We are using
Struts for our MVC separation but we use Spring as well because of it's
good integration with Hibernate as it allows you to manage transactions
at a higher level without the addition of a Session Facade (layer of
Session Beans). But, in terms of productivity, nothing beats WebObjects
and nothing comes close to EOF. That's my 2 cents from J2EE land.
